BBC
Introduction
The British Broadcasting Corporation is the national publicly-funded broadcaster of the United Kingdom, and produces and broadcasts on television, radio and the Internet.
Its funding, from the UK License Fee, covers all of its non-commercial and non-international activities, including 4 television channels (BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four), five national radio stations (BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5live), 40 local radio stations, BBCi, regional radio for Scotland and Wales and digital radio stations BBC 6 Music, BBC7, Asian Network, 1xtra and 5live Sports Extra.
Its commercial activities, which are self-funded and do not get any license fee funding, are the Radio Times magazine, Freeview, and the UKTV set of digital TV channels.
The World Service and BBC World is funded by the UK Foreign Office.
