About BBC Radio Humberside

BBC Radio Humberside is the local BBC radio service for Northern Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, broadcasting from state-of-the-art digital studios in Hull to a population of just under a million.

History

East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire had to wait until 1971 for BBC Radio Humberside to go to air - three years before the county of Humberside was created.

Today, the radio station broadcasts to The East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. The principal centres are Hull, Grimsby, Bridlington, and Scunthorpe.

Studios

The north bank production centre and studios are at Queens Court in Hull, alongside the BBC's Open Centre in the city and the BBC Look North service for East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

There are also district studios with reporters in Scunthorpe and Bridlington.

Transmitters

  • 95.9FM - For East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire
  • 1485AM - For East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire
  • DAB Digital Radio

Sports

Sports coverage is also very important - BBC Radio Humberside cover the events of Grimsby Town, Scunthorpe United and Hull City both on and off the pitch.

They also report on Hull's two major Rugby League clubs, Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers.

Plus, in January 2007 they introduced a weeknightly phone-in caled Sportstalk. It runs from 6.30 to 7.30 Monday to Friday with a combination of two presenters from David Burns, Gwilym Lloyd, Matt Dean and Mike White and are usually joined by a member of the local print media (on behalf of the Hull Daily Mail, Scunthorpe Telegraph and Grimsby Telegraph).
