Rewind
A musical feature on The Pulse, Rewind was presented by Elliott Webb, James Andrews and Simon Hirst, from the station's launch in 1992.
Acting as a bumper between a Hot-AC afternoon show and a CHR-led evening show, the programme was a carefully chosen selection of oldies, in chronological yearly order, with minimal speech content.
The presenter-read intro for the programme, over sound effects of spooling tape, told how the Pulse Rewind Computer was going back through its database of discs. "When it picks a year, we'll hear a song from that year and every consecutive year until we run out of time at 7 o'clock." The tape would then spool down to a halt, and a computerised voice, played off a cart, would announce the chosen year.
The programme was the idea of the then programme controller, Steve Martin. It had a roughly 20-week cycle of music tracks.
