Roger Kirk

Roger Kirk was a radio presenter for Pennine Radio and Classic Gold in Bradford. He also enjoyed time on the air at Magic 828, Hallam FM, and Stray FM.

His radio career started at Tunbridge Wells Hospital Radio before becoming a tech op for the BBC back in the early 1970s. His early on air career even included 36 hours onboard pirate station Radio Northsea International in 1971, but seasickness after just one show forced him back on to the mainland! Roger then moved onto Capital Radio in 1973 in another tech op role (after initially applying for an on air slot), before joining Pennine in August 1975.

His broadcast style was warm, and his 'radio voice' was a classic AM voice. He was known by his colleagues as 'Azh azh azh', as an affectionate impersonation.

Also a market trader, Roger passed away in August 2001.
