Simon Wynne
Simon Wynne began a career in radio after five years as an Account Executive for the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo newspaper in Liverpool.
He left to study a business management in Warrington before entering radio as Commercial Manager and Presenter for Marcher Sound Radio, Wrexham and Coast FM in Colwyn Bay 1994/1995.
A year later he joined the newly formed Independent Radio Group as Programme Director to launch 1458 Lite AM, Manchester in 1996. He remainded PD until 1999 when he again worked with Independent Radio Group to launch the new FM station in Warrington - 107.2 Wire FM.
In 1999 left IRG to spend a year travelling in Australia before returning to join BBC Radio 2 as H.O. Media Planning, a strategic role which involved formulating and developing focussed on-air and off-air marketing strategies to help grow station reach, hours and share.
Moved to BBC Radio 1 in January 2006 to develop a similar function.
Simon is also the radio lead in the BBC Digital Core team and was part of the group that successfully launched Freeview. Today he continues to advises the digital team on how to best use BBC Radio strategically to help grow digital take-up and viewing of the BBC Digital TV channels.
