The same goes for the One, Six and Ten, which also move on this date. A new-look is planned on-air (probably the slightly tweaked BBC World News graphics, which use Helvetica instead of GillSans).
A new top-of-hour sequence is also planned, which already exists on the BBC World News channel, which places Broadcasting House in the images.
The studios are all HD-capable, but there are no current plans to make BBC News Channel HD. Sky News, Russia Today and NHK World all have high-definition services.

Brian don’t be so anal, it’s not supposed to be technically accurate it’s just suppose to portray news stories beaming from one place to the other. General public get the TV “beamed” into their homes, why should they have to think any different for your sake?

Jesse Moore: OK, ignorance is bliss if you say so. I will stick with your condescending.

hahaha Brian. I often thought it, said it once or twice, but I get what it is. I mean, could you really expect them to show the entire Fresnel zone! haha

And James, you were right about Helvetica. Wide kerning though!

On the first lunchtime bully from the new studio, a senior BBC staffer said that they were now able to broadcast BBC1 news programmes in ‘true HD’.........what were we watching on BBC1 HD before then?
Must admit, the picture detail in the studio shots was impressive.

David Hoffman: BBC News was upscaled to HD on BBC One HD. You can see proper HD in the Astons now.`

First off I like the new look. Not sure if we really need the News Channel in HD as I guess a lot of the stuff coming in will not be in HD. Also, can someone with better eyesight than me confirm. Do I see cameras without a cameraman in the wide angle studio shots?

Brian Christopher Winter: They’ve said quite a few time that the cameras are all robots.

Mind the bezel! It’s massive on those studio background screens. did they run out of budget? Nick the ones from the Westminster Studios

Let’s hope they take the chance to get the physics of satellite dish operation right, having done it wrong in the “top-of-hour sequence” since 2005.
