Just watching Federer match. Macmillan and ?Bradnum constantly talked throughout points being played about other players, notably Ivan Lendl, presumably because he has just been announced as yet another coach for Andy Murray. Is it a pre requisite for a TV sports commentator to suffer from verbal diarrhoea?

Too much talk from Mats Wilander esp & Chris Bradman at Nadal v Berdytch match. This is television not radio

Agree with Lizzie and Geraldine.Far too much talk.Taking away from the enjoyment of the tennis.Perhaps if enough of us complain something will be done

I always have to turn off the commentary especially Mats Wilander. All he wants to talk about is himself and what he does or did. This ruins the game as we cannot hear the play and crowd. Turn yourself off Mats and give us a chance to watch the match. This is TV we can see what nis happening and we dont want to hear how many movies you have seen etc.

hoped there would have been more comment.
watching the semi and once again we have the Mats and Chris show.Dan Maskell must be turning in his grave

Good news BBC are televising the final

Yes, I would also like to add to the comment about Mats Vilander’s distracting commentating. I have every respect for Mats as I know he is extremely knowledgeable and a I’m sure a very nice chap BUT please can a message get through to him to STOP talking through the rallies, he does it all the time! My husband and I are avid tennis fans and love watching the tennis but Mats Vilander talking through the rallies drives us to distraction! Please can someone reply and acknowledge that this message will get through to Mats Islander ASAP, whilst the 2012 Australian Open is still on. Thank you very much. Jane and Tony Ferdinando

Apologies for the typo in previous message!

Peter Edwards posted on Thursday 26th January at 09:48

Please will you choose somebody else other than Mats Wilander to commentate at the Australian Open
He never stops talking. the other commentator never gets a word in. Thank you very much, I hope you will take notice of the viewers comments. Thank you. Peter ans Beryl Edwards.

PLEASE MAKE HIM STOP!!! fantastic match with Federer and Nadal ruined by meaningless chat. Sound now permanently muted!!

posted on Thursday 26th January at 11:12

I agree please get rid of Matts he is spoiling these great matches. We know when a ball is wide we don,t have to be told every time. Also stop him speculating all the time. Best thing is to not ask him back.

posted on Thursday 26th January at 11:22

Please could Mats Wilander just shut up. We are likewise driven to distraction by his series of unfinished comments, often during the rallies. Eurosport director and producer, just use those headphones that hopefully Mats is wearing

Lizzie Mayes posted on Thursday 26th January at 12:14

I couldn’t agree more – get rid of Mats. He hasn’t stopped endless chatter all through the game and I have to keep going away from the TV or else I’ll break it. He is telling them how to play every point.

posted on Thursday 26th January at 12:14

Matts Wilander is unbearable – his incessant noise is spoiling the enjoyment for apparently so many keen fans. Why should we have to mute the sound? Does Simon Reed have a boss?? Perhaps he/she would listen and do something about it as Mr Reed appears to condone it.
The matches are wonderful so PLEASE MAKE HIM STOP!!

Stevedouglaswh posted on Thursday 26th January at 13:17

Chris Bradnam and Mats Wilander are absoultely shocking. Great matches ruined by two utter buffoons. I know a number of friends and tennis “nuts” who have to watch matches with the mute button on when these two are at the microphone. A message to both of them to from an old pro…

“The key thing was to learn the value of economy with words and to never insult the viewer by telling them what they can already see.My mantra is put your brain into gear and if you can add to what’s on the screen then do it, otherwise shut up.”

Eurosport should get rid of both and quick. Shocking they are allowed to be so utterly annoying.

Stevedouglaswh posted on Thursday 26th January at 13:44

The perfect example of how very good players DO NOT make very good commentators.

Is he getting paid per/word ?

Jennie.french posted on Thursday 26th January at 13:54

I couldnt agree more. Wilander is just dreadful and I hate having to keep fiddling with the mute button as well. The drivel is endless and it even goes on during play – this is ruining the Australian Open for me. PLEASE dont let him near the next Semi or heaven forbid the final!!!
No commentary at all would be massively preferable to having Wilander – PLEASE do something even if its just to tell him to shut up during play.

Vivien Tinsley posted on Thursday 26th January at 17:25

I thought commentators were supposed to comment on the match. I, like obviously many others, am not interested in the slightest in the self centred opinions of Mr Wilander. I recorded the match and then watched the recording enabling me to ‘fast forward’ between the games. This worked some of the time only as Mr Wilander’s droning voice continued over some of the play. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not allow him in the commentary box for the final.

Lizzie Mayes posted on Friday 27th January at 10:11

Well done Mats – thank you for taking on board our comments so graciously – and so far so good. A much more enjoyable commentary today. And thank you Eurosport for responding positively to viewers comments.

Love the tennis, couldn’t wait for the Murray semi-final in glorious HD on Eurosport, however had switch over to Auntie as the constant, endless, perpetually unbearable commentry by Mats Wilander. Terrible comments about Roger Federer, one of, if not, the most graceful tennis players and gracious men being compared to the ‘Village Idiot’. Shameful, jealous and nasty comments. Let the tennis do the talking not Mr. Wilander. Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase.

Mats Villander is ruining watching a tennis match on eurosport. He talks non stop and often irrelevant to the tennis we are watching. For this reason I watched the Murray match on BBC and assuming he is commentating on the final will also watch that on BBC. On the other hand I think Greg is fantastic.
