BBC Yorkshire & Lincolnshire is home to BBC Look North.
The programme serves a population of around two million people.
We are one of the most watched early evening news programmes in the country.
You’ll work from our modern news centre in Hull, which is also the base for BBC Radio Humberside.
You will also serve BBC Radio Lincolnshire and online sites in the region.
About the role:
The successful candidate will be an experienced performer on Television and Radio, with excellent writing skills and an understanding of the requirements of BBC News Online.
You’ll need to have the knowledge and contacts to deliver original stories from across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Some current local issues include the Humber as a growing hub for investment in renewable energy, and youth unemployment figures in the area being among the highest in the country. Also, Lincolnshire produces a quarter of Britain’s food and Lincoln has one of Britain’s fastest growing economies.
You will be expected to explain difficult subject matter in a simple way. We place a high value on creative treatments and imaginative storytelling so you’ll need a strong track record in making creative reporter-led packages.
Requirements:
You’ll have live reporting experience – either on location or studio – and you’ll need to be prepared to work flexibly including on our bulletin which is part of the BBC’s News at Ten.
Editing and filming skills are an advantage.
An interest, background and understanding of national issues and how they affect the region are essential.
We will expect you to have insight and the ability to report and comment with authority.

This should include an original story and evidence of live reporting in the studio or on location.

Please note, we are unable to return DVDs once submitted and any application without a supporting demo will not be considered for shortlisting.
