Ian Camfield has left Xfm after 10 years, and started a new weekly rock show on Kerrang! Radio. Ian moved to New York last year to host drive on New York's K-Rock, but continued to present a weekly Xfm programme. (more)
Shaw sacked by Kerrang

Breakfast presenter Tim Shaw has been dismissed by Kerrang! Radio following an investigation into a competition at the station.The allegations against Shaw concerned the mismanagement of a competition on Kerrang! Radio where the presenter was found to have breached company rules. (more)
Xfm poaches Kerrang! duo

GCap Media has hired Kerrang! 105.2's deputy programme director Mike Newman to fill the new position of PC at Xfm South Wales, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal. In addition, Emma Newman, who has been with Kerrang! since launch, will move to Cardiff as music scheduler. (more)

Emap's Kerrang! Radio in Birmingham is combining celebrities and swearing for their latest station-wide promotion, by asking listeners to identify hidden swear words. Out of the three celebrity voices - one says "crap", one says "knob", one says "motherf**ker". (more)

Kerrang! 105.2 managing director Adrian Serle has been appointed as Radio Sales Director for Emap Advertising. In this newly created role, Adrian will be reporting to Karen Stacey, Broadcast Sales Director. He will manage all aspects of radio sales and drive Emap Advertising’s commercial strategy. (more)

Viking FM's Dan Morfitt has been announced as the new voice of Kerrang! Radio overnights, replacing Sean Coleman.Morfitt, who presented Viking's local alternative music show, The Sunday Session, will join Emap's West Midlands rock station this Tuesday (23 January).He will present the 2am-6am slot every weeknight, and will also front a Saturday lunchtime show on the station.Kerrang! Radio was named commercial radio station of the year in the first Radio Magazine end-of-year "best of the best" review, after it won a string of awards at the Sonys and the New York Festival.In the last set of Rajars, the station — which launched in 2004 — claimed just under 400,000 weekly listeners and a 3.4 share of the hotly-contested Brum radio market. The Stereophonics, Bullet for My Valentine and the Lost Prophets are among the Welsh bands supporting Emap's bid to bring Kerrang! Radio to South Wales.Emap has confirmed it will be submitting an application to Ofcom by 12 December for the licence, with a decision expected in spring 2007.Adrian Serle, MD of Kerrang! Kerrang to bid for South Wales

Fresh from their win in Liverpool with an all-talk format, Emap has launched a bid to extend Kerrang! Radio to South Wales.The closing date for applications to Ofcom is December 12th, with the new licence covering Cardiff, Swansea and parts of Newport. (more)

No Dole for Kerrang! jock

A complaint has been lodged with Ofcom regarding a feature during The Breakfast Show with Tim Shaw on Kerrang! 105.2 in April this year. The feature was called Dole or no Dole and was created as a humorous take on the television programme Deal or no Deal.
The single listener who complained said that the apparent premise of the competition - the presenter ringing unsuspecting members of the public, who may or may not have been claiming state benefits, so that competitors could guess how many benefits they were claiming - was offensive and “vindictive”.
