New pan-African 24-hour news and information TV channel planned

Salim Amin, a photojournalist and entrepreneur based in Nairob, has announced plans to launch what he terms the first truly independent pan-African 24-hour news and information TV channel. Arab channel gets primetime Sky slot

Arab entertainment channel Rotana Europe has begun broadcasting in the UK. With a primetime evening slot between 19:00 - 22:00 hours every day on Sky Digital EPG 168, Rotana Europe will engage and delight Arab viewers with a scheduled selection of top rating music, entertainment and film content. Rotana Europe is brought to Sky viewers by arrangement with Information TV, which is a service that helps channels launch on Sky Digital. Rotana's programming will include the latest new release music videos featuring Amr Diab, Elissa and many other contemporary Arab music artists from Rotana. (more)

Rotana TV launches free-to-air entertainment channel on Sky Platform

The Arab television network Rotana, owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, has launched a free-to-air entertainment channel in the UK and Ireland on the Sky platform. Russia Today moves to new EPG position on BSkyB platform

Information TV announces that the English-language news channel from Moscow, Russia Today, is to move to channel 516 on the Sky Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) with effect from tomorrow. Russia Today TV channel available to UK Sky Digital viewers

BBC Monitoring notes that the Russian English-language rolling news channel Russia Today is available to UK-based viewers on the Eurobird satellite at 28.2 degrees east.
