EU closes investigation into RTÉ, TG4

The European Commission has decided to close its investigation into the funding of Irish public service broadcasters RTÉ and TG4, following commitments from Ireland to amend the current financial regime. Prominent Northern Ireland businessman Peter Quinn is to be chairman of Teilifis na Gaeilge, the body that will run the Irish language TV Channel TG4. Ireland?s public TV channels may be allowed to broadcast in UK

Irish politicians are due to consider a new Bill which will enable Irish public broadcasters RTÉ and TG4 to broadcasts their TV programmes in the UK. New Irish TV station decides not to go on Sky platform

The new Irish commercial TV station Channel 6 has decided not to broadcast on the Sky Digital satellite platform. The official reason is a disagreement with Sky about its position on the new Electronic Programme Guide. It's thought that Channel 6 wanted to be listed immediately after the other Irish stations - RTE, TV3 and TG4. But Sky offered it a position between 280 and 290, meaning it would be (more)
